Market Research

An integral part of marketing is knowledge.  Marketing & Communications does regular research and secondary data analysis on various issues and topics to best understand how UNO is seen in various constituencies as well as what issues need to be addressed via communications.  We also constantly work to obtain Higher Education data and research to help guide decisions.

Conducted with Dr. Pam Kennett-Hensel and graduate students.

• UNO Out of Town/Out of State Freshmen Focus Groups

  Study intended to surface themes to help best understand what attracts non New Orleans metro area students to UNO. (Conducted with Dr. Pam Kennett-Hensel and graduate students)

• JK/Generation Research

  This was a qualitative research effort done by recruiting/advertising consultants to start the process of finding UNO’s key strengths.  It draws out themes that were evident in talks with administrators, faculty and students over three days of interviews. 

• LSU System recruiting materials survey

This was conducted as a baseline to understand the current level of effectiveness of UNO’s recruiting materials.  The survey sample was very small and does have flaws, but it does give a general idea of where
we stand. 

• Northshore Study/UNO Survey Research Center

Research done to determine potential market and attitudes
on the Northshore.

• Saurage/Keating Magee Research

Done in 2001, this is dated, but directionally demonstrates the issues that we face in perceptions.

• Board of Regents Metro Area Enrollment

This is monitored strictly to understand the post secondary purchasing habits of metro area students.

• NSSE Research

  National research comparing UNO academic standings as perceived by students to peer and category institutions.
